In 1492 Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue. He was looking for a shorter route from Europe to India by sailing west. He thought that he discovered India, but instead he sailed to the Americas. Some hail him as a early explorer that discovered a new world; others see him as a thief and a murderer.
